Importance of Platelets in our Blood

All living organisms have tubes called blood vessels that have the function of carrying blood from the heart to the other body organs. These blood vessels are of two types called veins and arteries. Arteries are vessels through which the oxygenated blood is carried from the heart to the body organs while veins are vessels that are vital in carrying the deoxygenated from the body organs to the heart.

When a leak develops in these tubes no matter what the reason, immediately bleeding becomes minimized and eventually clots are formed to prevent the loss of the blood from the body.

The leakage of blood from our body has to be stopped otherwise we could die if there is no way to prevent the loss of blood. The Almighty has blessed us a certain type of blood cells which we call platelets. These platelets are cells that are specialized to prevent the loss of blood. Platelets immediately are asked to act on wounds and injuries in order to prevent blood loss.
